I was amazed when I read this article because it put so many pieces together for me. I was beginning to realize that I had a low acid issue, but couldn't figure out what it had to do with my fat metabolism. I mean, I can not supplement EFA's period without developing major skin issues. Then when I read that the SIBO, which can proliferate in an alkaline environment, deconjugated my bile acids, that sealed it for me. I couldn't understand why my stool had become nice and dark, but my fat absorption and soft stools were no better. Now I know. It is now my focus to improve my stomach acid levels, gently, and get rid of this SIBO.

Honestly, I believe that once the SIBO is gone, that my candida issues will go too. I was reading elsewhere that sinus issues, which I have, can result from low stomach acid which allows 'silent' reflux especially at night while sleeping. This can encourage white tongue, sinus congestion and post nasal drip. Well, the HCl at meals trains the sphincter to shut tightly instead of staying slack. So it is more likely to shut at night while the stomach is producing small amounts of acid which can leak up the esophagus and cause the silent reflux.

I am currently taking PO with some success. But in my reading, apparently there are an array of microbes that can produce SIBO. The standard treatment being Antibiotics , of course. For me, I've started with the PO, and when I finish this course on Monday, I will switch to a potent blend of Grapefruit-Seed-Extract and mushrooms for 2 weeks. I want to cover as many varieties as possible. Improving my stomach acid production with the HCl, and my intestinal motility with triphala should all work together to prevent a SIBO recurrence.

I will continue treating myself for candida with Candida Clear for one more bottle, but except for a white spot on my tongue, my candida issues are next to none. With the PO treatment, I seldom bloat anymore, and this is while eating a gluten-free brownie for breakfast each morning this week. Okay, that is bad nutritionally as well as candida-ly, but I made it, and now I'm weak. But it hasn't caused any extra symptoms or backlash, so something is getting better.

And by the way, you most definitely do need the fat-soluble vitamins. So supplement as much as you need. I dropped my extra iron until I can get the population down, but there is still some in my multi. But I supplement my fat-solubles and my B's because I need them.
