Hmmm... funny. My eyes used to itch terribly before I treated with nystatin. As the candida became more under control, the itching ceased. So did the disgusting discharge.
It would make sense that sinus, eyes, everything improves really, when you are reducing the candida load. Plus, since the nystatin is taken orally, and the sinuses are right there, it would make sense that as there is less candida in the oral cavity, there is less to continuously reinfect the sinus and the body can finally make some headway.
I double-checked references, and the info stands: there is only very minimal absorption of candida from the intestines. It passes through unchanged. Contact with the yeast cells affects their permeability and kills them.
So, perhaps the itchy eyes you experience are due to the presence of the candida, not the nystatin, and if the timing seems to suggest otherwise, it may very well be a coincidence. On the other hand, while extremely rare, some people ARE known to have side effects from nystatin. Perhaps you are one of them?
