SOME people are particiulary sensitive to the chemicals used on fruits and vegetables, which the user's mother above may be, but that's very uncommon. It's actually an allergy to the chemicals used that makes them unable to eat convential produce - there are support groups online for those allergies and they all state the same thing - they can't eat produce unless it's organic. However, unless you're one of the few people with these allergies, it's ALWAYS better to eat convential fruits and vegetables over junk food. I asked my naturopath, who also states this, as does every health book I've ever read. I've been able to detox quite well using convential produce and a raw food diet under the supervison of my naturopath. Of course organic is always better and should be bought when you can afford it, but you can avoid the worst of the chemicals by peeling fruits and veggies, washing them well, and staying away from imported produce that you can't peel from Mexico, Brazil, Costa Rica, Argentina, ect. since their pesiticide laws are much more lax than those in North America.
