I am becoming aware of this. However, they are developing Cox 2 "specific" inhibitors. These would have the possitive effects, without gastrointestinal side-effects as seen in the Cox1 inhibitors. This is still hypothetical of course, but the drugs do exist and are being tested.
The main idea is to nutralize the PGE2 molecule the pathogen[s] are manufacturing, which I believe, among other things, is regulating stomach acid production and thus altering intestinal PH to accomadate it's living requirements.
To acheive this may be a simple drug that already exists. Who knows? This could be a simple solution if done accurately.
