Malassezia Furfur (aka as Tinea Versicolor) is related to Seborrheic Dermatitis because the yeast feeds off the fatty acids on the skin and the dead cells, so buffing the skin after showering or bathing is very recommended.

The "real" cause is unknown, so I wouldn't be surprised it is related to candida.

There's also a relation between vitamin A and the renewal of surface cells (skin, intestines etc.) so I believe there might be a link there. Vitamin A is important for mucus membranes in general and to prevent infections.
