Welcome, Dana.

"Candida" refers to yeast species (i.e. candida albicans), that normally inhabit human intestinal tracts. Ordinarily, it does not cause a problem, as the amount of it is small.

Sometimes, the intestinal habitat changes in some way that favors the yeast. That could be: an autoimmune disorder, a diet high in starches & sugars, nutritional deficits, prolonged or repeated use of Antibiotics , etc.

When the yeast thrives and numbers increase, problems develop. Yeast metabolites are toxic and can build up in the body, causing a wide variety of problems. The yeast also kills off it's competition.

Once this begins happening, intervention is required. Left on it's own, the yeast will continue to sicken a person, eventually leading to disabilty and death.

It is extremely difficult to get rid of the yeast, for a variety of reasons. It involves taxing protocols for a very extended period of time. Hence this forum, where we can support each other.

Again, welcome!
