IF YOU ARE NOT CHEATING, then die-off means that you are killing the candida. I never liked the symptoms of die-off, but I welcomed, even embraced, it. It was positive feedback that the candida was dying off.
Ridding myself of candida took much, much longer than I ever imagined. I first realized that I had candida in June, 2005. My first goal was to be well by the end of the summer. Then my goal was to be well by Thanksgiving and enjoy a big Thanksgiving dinner. Then it was Christmas. Then my goal was to be well for my big bike ride in April, 2006. That goal I made, but just barely.
By the time most people become symptomatic, candida has become well and truly entrenched. Now that I recognise the symptoms, I realize that I had candida for years before I became almost bedridden by it.
I had to drive the candida to a very, very low level before the probiotic lactobacteria could start to colonize. It took a lot of time, a lot of patience, and a lot die-offs. I you are not cheating, die-off means that you are winning.
It's amazing how die-off can cause such a sudden, deep depression. Just remind yourself that the die-off is causing the depression. That there is a definite end to the die-off and the depression. My last die-off, the one that lead to a "cure", lasted three weeks. It was very unpleasant, but very, very much worth it.
