Hi obj,
In Bio-organic chemistry , which is what we are dealing with in the Human body, things do not work as they do in Just chemistry!

For in Bio-organic chemistry, what may seem to be , usually is not so, for there are many variables because we are dealing with Living changing Life forms , one may say!

Many people do not chose to study in the fields of Bio-organic chemistry because of it's complexity, for this is hard for the Human mind to comprehend , things which appear to be so , but are not so!

Now to your questions: Protein is a form of Nitrogen and Nitrogen is an Isotope!

An Isotope is something which may cause opposite reactions to take place, depending upon which isotope it is at the time and place!

In the case of protein, if it is of the isotope of ammonia, this is Alkaline forming and may cause the body to appear to be alkaline, and this would provide a false indicator that the body has a reserve of Alkaline Minerals on hand, when in fact the opposite may be true!

This isotope of ammonia is dependent upon there being sufficent acids of different kinds present to stop the OXYGEN and Calcium, because if there is enough Calcium and Oxygen present, then the isotope of ammonia will convert to the isotope of Nitrate which is acid forming and the pH will drop greatly in the body!!

So if the body is high in the isotope of ammonia, is is probably short of OXYGEN and Calcium!!

Oxygen and Calcium are much needed Alkaline Minerals or Alkaline elements needed by the body to stay Healthy!

All proteins will in the end cause the body to become more Acidic!!

So a person is generally better off to eat foods with less proteins and eat more foods which are Higher in complexed Carbohydrates which are Highly Mineralized and eat more fresh fruits and vegetables which are grown in season in your climate area!

This will provide you with the best chance to stay Healthy!

Higher amounts of Protein should only be eaten by those people who do high amounts of physical labor and thus breath in much more Oxygen than the normal person, so as to be able to help neutralize the Acids produced by the extra proteins!

Now about liquid minerals or about Alkalizing minerals: Calcium is a #1 Alkaline mineral needed by the body along with all kinds of trace minerals!

But Baking soda is also much higher in pH than Calcium is, and will neutralize much more acids than Calcium will, But the baking soda will not provide the Release of Electrical Energy needed by the body, which Calcium will, and because of this, one may raise the body's pH with baking soda ,but not with the correct Electrical Energies needed by the body to stay Healthy!!

So "IF" one choses to use a Liquid Mineral mixed by mankind, which is not of the proper Mineral mix that the body needs, then the results may be less than hoped for!!

So , again this is why it is best to get your Alkaline Minerals from plant sources which are higher in the Alkaline Minerals, for they will generally be of a better mix of the needed Alkaline Minerals for the body than if a company mixes up some mix for you to drink!

This is another reason I recommend using Blackstrap Molasses and Kelp as Alkaline Mineral sources, for they are both plant sources!
The Kelp as it is grown and the Blackstrap Molasses as it is concentrated down by the process of removing the refined sugars from the Alkaline Minerals in it!!
