Yes, I have been using wax paper as well, just be sure to buy the "unbleached" kind, which you can probably get at a whole foods market or other healthfood store. I order mine from shopnatural.com.

My mother uses "parchment paper" in her dehydrator, which she claims is better than wax paper. It looks just like my unbleached wax paper (brown), so I am not sure what the difference is.
