I was going to an osteopath doctor who specialized in chronic pain due to such severe pain in my lower back that I couldnt even walk. Throught the course of our treatement I kept getting worse and worse. Soon the muscle spasms were not only in my low back, by my neck and facial muscles. I couldnt even breath because the muscles in my neck spasmed so hard and stayed that way it was constricting my windpipe.

On the off chance I had asked him about a "magic pill" for the weight becuase I kept putting on weight even though I was eating a controlled diet of 1200 calories a day. That prompted him to ask me some questions and I took a hypothyroid questionaire. Of the 50 questions - I answered yes to all 50! He then had blood work done for thryoid problems. I was on the "low end" of "normal". Thankfully he is a very open minded doctor and keeps himself abreast of new developments.

There is such a thing as thryoid resistance. Our bodies produce it so our blook work looks normal... but we don't metabolise it properly. He put me on 30 MCG of Armour thyroid and with in 24 hours I noted that I wasnt feeling as horrible.

Symptoms that are not commonly publicised about thryoid disorders - these tend to be the later sypmptoms - Carpal Tunnel, tendonitis, severe muscle spasming, muscle aches and joint pain. Tenderness of muscles, numbness in arms and legs, difficulty breathing, loss of voice or hoarsness. Most common ones (early symptoms), weight problems, depression, dry skin, sudden lose of large quantities of hair and eyebrows, thin nails, irritability, anger, need to sleep all the time, mental confusion, brainfog, loss of memory skills, lack of sex drive, constipation.

My doctor, through his own research and work with patients has connected candida overgrowth and hypothryoid problems.

There are open minded docs out there - I'd look for an Osteopath (D.O.) who specializes in hormone therapy.
