i have never read about canddia thriving in an alkaline environment.
i do know that the foods i ate i were very acidic. and, i craved acidic foods exclusively. then, the more acidic things i ate, the worse the itch got... even when the acidic things were supposedly good for me like fruits (grapes)!
Here's Something I Find Interesting:
my husband craves alkaline foods - and the more he eats the worse he gets. so, he has had to acidify with fruits (like cranberry) to get well. (which is the exact opposite of what i needed to do.)
conclusion:
i think that if you are eating any food type to the exclusion of the other balancing one, that seems to be when you get ill.
i craved acidic foods - and ate no alkaline foods = got sick.
my husband craved alkaline foods - and no acidic foods = got sick.
for the time being, each of us has switched food groups and have improved greatly.
i believe it's this method that has balanced us out.
so, you will need to know.......... are you alkaline or acidic?
if you eat primarily vegetables, you may already be too alkaline. if you eat mainly fruits or Sugar (ie. carbs.), you may be to acidic.
and, i wouldn't count on this showing up in a pee test. (it didn't for me anyway.)
a friend did suggest, however, that i try a saliva test - maybe it would have shown up there. (i didn't try it.) i just knew from what i was eating (and not eating) that i was acidic. then, with the addition of the veggies - i got well fast (massive improvement in less than 5 days) and the was proof enough for me.
