I used both fresh and store bought and they both did the trick.

I only used the fresh stuff because here in Taiwan, it is very difficult to get this product on the shelves. But then again, it was MUCH cheaper, and fresh is always better. I am just lazy! I guess. I would never have bothered if it had been on the shelf.
