The B12 issue is controversial. I took B12 supplements for awhile, but my body no longer needs it. Theoretically, raw fruits and veggies should give us everything we need, but I think that it is quite an idealist approach that may not work for everyone, or cause great discomfort in the interim before that ideal state of utopian health! (: As part of my transition, someone suggested to me to eat raw sauerkraut, and bennonite clay, to restore an intestinal balance, and to assist with my B vitamins. I think that this really helped me, and then when I was done, I didn't need it anymore.
Protien - there is alot of info on this forum and out there about the misconception of our high protien needs. There is protien in fruits and veggies, and what is a protien other than chains of amino acids. Fruits naturally have all 8 essential amino acids, and thus, adequately meet all of our protien needs. My raw foodist friend and myself are one of the most muscular yogis that I know. My body rapidly puts on muscle - it is crazy! And often raw foodists will say - what do gorillas eat, mostly fruit, and boy they are muscular and strong! Anyhow, some thoughts to think about....conventional protien sources such as meat, and beans, and so on are quite acidic for the body and difficult to digest given that our digestive systems have been biologically adapted for the absorption of vegetables and fruits.....
anyhow, I do not wish to lecture, or regurgatate things that you have heard. I think that you are doing great for even thinking of transitioning to raw, and sometimes that is all that it takes is the intent, and then all falls into place thereafter naturally in its own time :)
So, you are right, try it, see what issues come up, and then try something else, and so on. It is so fun!
Take care, and happy eating to you.
