Appreciated your post very much. Very informative.

Also..... I keep seeing these inferences to candida being sexually transmitted, transmitted via kissing, transmitted between family members, etc.

And references to Candida Infections.

But actually isn't Candida a NATURAL component of the human body and the human body without ANY candida would be rare - extremely rare?

Most web sitews infer a candida infestation (i.e., regular candida getting out of control) while other sites talk about there being some kind of conversion of candida from "regular" candida cells into some kind of "evil" fungus.....

QUOTE: When our bodies lose their proper immune protection, candida “morphs” from being a beneficial yeast into a harmful fungus. In its fungal form it develops rhizoids (long root-like structures that are invasive and penetrate the mucosa. Once this happens, the boundary between our intestinal tract and the rest of the circulatory system breaks down, and this allows partially digested proteins to travel into the bloodstream where they basically act as toxins, causing all sorts of health problems.... What causes the change from good candida to bad candida? There are many theories. Most naturopaths concur that the conversion happens due to some sort of attack on our immune systems such as prolonged Antibiotic use, elevated mercury levels, taking steroids or oral contraceptives on a regular basis, eating a high Sugar diet. (One teaspoon of Sugar is proven to wipe out the immune system It could be a combination of these. It is also conjectured that candida increases its numbers during periods of stress and lowered immune states. When you take Antibiotics , the Antibiotics kill the friendly bacteria in the intestines, but do not harm the candida living in the intestines. So it may overgrow and turn bad. END QUOTE

I find this very interesting as many other sites simply seem to refer to candida simply being an infestation of excessive "regular" candida cells rather than an evil fungal process!

If you agree with this morphing process, are you aware of any links to clinical trials or studies that corroborate this concept?

I have always wondered how one could "transmit" candida or it being contagious... since all human - even extremely healthy ones - have millions and millions of candida cells and how could an unhealthy person "transmit" candida to a person who already has candida???

Thanks.
