The bacteria in the example evolve a resistance to the antibiotic. Mutations occur in small segments of the population that allow it to resist. Then these mutated bacteria multiply and begin a new resistant form of the population.

If you would have bothered to read the last post I put up about what evolution is and how it works, you will see how it ties in.

I like Michelle's post much better. Much more entertaining.

As I said before, but you obviously didn't read:

Biological evolution refers to the cumulative changes that occur in a population over time. These changes are produced at the genetic level as organisms' genes mutate and/or recombine in different ways during reproduction and are passed on to future generations. Sometimes, individuals inherit new characteristics that give them a survival and reproductive advantage in their local environments; these characteristics tend to increase in frequency in the population, while those that are disadvantageous decrease in frequency. This process of differential survival and reproduction is known as natural selection. Non-genetic changes that occur during an organism's life span, such as increases in muscle mass due to exercise and diet, cannot be passed on to the next generation and are not examples of evolution.

The survival and reproductive success of an individual is directly related to the ways its inherited traits function in the context of its local environment. Whether or not an individual survives and reproduces depends on whether it has genes that produce traits that are well adapted to its environment.

As any school teacher will tell you, sometimes the student just cannot understand (be it their own beliefs that blind them or lack of ability to comprehend). No one can be faulted for that.

Since it is obvious that no matter what is presented some in here will not accept it, let's turn the tables a bit. The Creationists in this room keep asking for proof, so I would like some proof. If anyone would be so good to explain any other theories (some have been presented, thanks Michelle) including:

1. What happened to the Dinosaurs
2. How every biologist on earth is wrong
3. How every Paleontologist on earth is wrong
4. How the Grand Canyon formed
5. How radioactive dating is wrong
6. How Carbon 14 dating is wrong
7. How to explain the vast distances in space and time
8. Why some mountains are higher than others, seemingly worn down over vast periods of time.
9. Why the Pope was wrong when he talked about evolution
10. How can there be some evolution (micro) and not other (macro) when macro is just micro spread over populations and vast periods of time.
11. Where did all that oil come from
12. If the whole earth was flooded, where did all the water go
13. Why can you find certain animals only on certain parts on the planet (marsupials come to mind)
14. In the entire realm of chemistry can Creationists not find one element that decays at a controlled rate, then use it to date objects that contain this element to prove that the earth is only 6000 years old
15. How long were the dinosaurs around and how did humans coexist with them
16. What of Homo Erectus, Homo Hablis, Cro Magnen man

I know some pretty smart people that are Paleontologists, so I am sure they would be interested in how they are all devoting their life’s work to an outright lie by the scientific community.
