People just need to realize that Science and religion are friends, not enemies. They explore different territories. But when people try and use one, to explain "everything", that's where trouble arrises.
Both are, basically, the "same thing", but focused in different directions. Both (and keep in mind I'm talking about them in their "purest" sense, not necessarily mainstream understanding) are basically the pursuit of truth, fueled by an inner "need" to know "who we are". Science is exploration of the "manifested" world (that included non-material things such as energy and vibration, etc.). Religion (again, in its pureset sense) goes beyond that, to the Unmanifest, where Science can not easily reach.
Science is religion externalized. Religion is science internalized. This can be understood when you see that the underlying "drive" in both is the same, simply applied to different a different "focus".
In a more general sense, scientific "ideas" (processes) can be applied even to "inner work" -- the "territory" of religion. In my personal "inner work", the exploration of "myself" (or more specifically, this manifested body-mind-soul unit), I am very scientific and logical, detail oriented, and experimental.
Religion can also help in the "external", manifest world -- science's territory. But when I say religion, I don't mean Christianity, or any other specific religion or set of ideas. I mean the basic, core, deep understanding that arrises from true "self-exploration" and spiritual maturity. Blindly following some "religion" without doing the inner work/exploration/experimenting, is not religion at all.
Many people have the idea that religion is "blind faith" (and for many this is true!), but many religious ideas are actually very scientific... very logical and "procedural"... just misunderstood. Symbolism is quite common in religious ideas because there is no easy way to communicate the more abstract, "experiential", "existential" concepts. The problem is that "the blind" take this symbolism literally, instead of "diving deeper" to find out what it really means in relation to the "inner world".
A synthesis is needed. Science and religion need to work hand in hand, not as opposing enemies. Then a great understanding can be achieved. But I wonder, how many will understand what I mean by "science" and "religion"? -- because I'm certainly not referring to "institutionalized" science or religion!
Science and religion are merely tools. They can take you a long way, especially if you use them just as you use your left and right hands. But, tools can only take you so far, and at some point you must set them aside and simply... BE.
But, many people are more interested in "taking sides", being attached to one-sided perspectives. In doing so, they taint and destroy both science *AND* religion. They become murderers of truth.
The ego wants to proclaim "this is *MY* opinion, this is how *I* am defined". These people aren't so much interested in the "search" as they are in simply taking on an "identity". They are more interested in arguing pointless arguments, seeing eachother as "the opposition", instead of "the ally" to share and explore with together. They will never learn anything.
"Truth" (in a very deep sense -- the "One Truth") is not restricted to science or religion. It is beyond both. Science and religion exist *WITHIN* truth, not the other way around. They are both only methods of discovering that truth. But currently, "institutionalized" or mainstream science, has not yet matured enough to cover the deeper, inner work. It does delve into psychology and energy and such, and that's a start, but still not deep enough. And vice versa, "religion" in its present state is often taken far too much in a "blind faith" kind of way without seeing the science behind it.
Both are two halves of the same thing, and they only appear separate right now because the common understanding of them has not matured sufficiently enough. At some point in the future, when people begin to realize the underlying "logic" in religion, and when science begins to be applied to deeper, inner "being-based" areas, then they will start to overlap. Eventually there will be no distinction between the two. They will have merged as a deeper, more "whole" understanding arrises.
