Friends of ours from church with loved ones in the Houston area are anxious. The traffic north is so bad they can't get out of the city. People are running out of gas on the freeway. All southbound traffic has been blocked to Houston starting 50 miles away.


Here in Waco, the very heart/middle/center of Texas, it's stop and go traffic on Interstate 35 which runs north and south through the center of the state from Mexico all the way to Dallas. I imagine half the state of Texas is in a car right now.

There is no gas at any of the gas stations remotely close to the freeway. My husband just called from Sam's (like Costco). The shelves are almost empty and the lines are incredibly long. And this is in the afternoon when most people are still at work.

The sense of panic and emergency is building. I just saw three birds sitting on my fence staring at the sky like they have never seen it before- for several long minutes. Birds usually just peck around and act like normal birds. A neighbor's little dog has been barking a lot today. This is very unlike her.
