i don't know about "trashing the faith of our parents" but if you find that said faith is simply wrong or misguided or untruthful in some manner do you then not discard it for something closer to truth?


"no moral restraints or consequences" - i believe in a universe with consequences - ie you reap what you sow - but letting go of religion does not mean you let go consequences, it just means you let go of the idea of God as a guy who sits in heaven brewing up a big pot of piss for everyone who dares to defy him.

i can't speak for the original poster on this thread, but i believe you CAN let go of religion, and still retain a universe that has consequences, don't you?
