It's too bad that your experiences have brought you to this point. But then every persons life goes down a different path.
I understand what you mean by doctrine. In the catholic church, I was raised catholic, doctrine and dogma are seperate. Doctrine is God's law, the ten commandments and Jesus' teachings. Dogma is the mumbo jumbo made up by over powerful bishops. Some of the dogma started off with good intentions (some but not many) others started from the understood facts or superstitions of the time. Now all have to try and satisfy those dogmas. That is something that I have a hard time with. (I suppose that's obvious)
You have mentioned praying harder to hear God, Jesus speak. Someties it is the praying too hard that causes the silence. My personal (not church taught at all!) belief is that sometimes it takes our silence so God, or the creator if you will, can work in our lives. Sometimes it is through other persons, sometimes through our dreams, sometimes (like with me) through intuition, or others it's sudden thoughts from out of nowhere. For each it's different. For someone to say that one is wrong because something didn't happen as it did for them is terrible and wrong. But I guess that's my own opinon.
I pray that you find the peace that you seek. And know that not all of us who atttend church and believe in God believe the popular teachings of original sin and the guilt that comes with it. There are those, like myself, who don't see this "venegful" being we are taught about. We only see the loving creator.
Thanks for answering my questions, I apprieciate the gresture!
