Some things that I learned first hand as a boy. Do remember the time was in the 1950's, place was the rural South with only our imaginations for entertainment, and that a boy thinks different than a man. Some of these things I would not dream of now.
1.....A dog, with long ears that are pinned over his eyes with Mom's clothes pin, will follow a scent of bread or bone waved in front of him. He cannot see and can be led to fall into a river or run into the side of the house, etc.
2.....If you have a pillow fight with your brother and the pillow case tears, DO NOT put it back on the bed hoping Mamma will not notice. She Will.
3.....If you find Grandpa's moonshine, horses or dogs will not partake. Hogs and cows will partake. Now that is one more funny sight. Even more funny is watching Mamma try to keep a straight face and get on to us at the same time.
4.....Mix baking soda and vinegar to see if anything will happen. Something will. The fun comes in trying to get it all cleaned up before Mamma gets home from work.
5.....Mamma was always even-keeled. I upset that notion when I told her that I needed one of her pots to boil the meat off a frog for Biology class. Yall've probably heard of a snit or a tizzy type fit.
How Mothers survive boys is a miracle. I could relate more, but it's getting late and I gotta go.
Corey
P.S. All the above is true and first-hand experience
