A couple of days ago, someone posted on another forum (I think
it was Ask Curezone #5) and they were feeling like they were
being smothered in their world of homemaking, housekeeping,
their "job", etc. And I thought it was "meant" for me to find
that post, because I had been feeling the same way, and had
just done my weekly motivational newsletter on SLOWING DOWN
It is so easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of
daily life...and by doing so...we zoom by so many things that
would be priceless to us if only we could realize how fleeting
time really is...We need to take the time for some things
that "really" matter.
Our son-in-laws dad just died instantly of a massive heart
attact a couple of days ago. Our kids had just had the whole family
for supper 48 hours ...almost to the minute...before his heart
attack. He was the type of guy that was the life of the party...wonderful sense of humor, tall, extremely handsome. He
and his wife had just bought a big house in the country to
enjoy their retirement in. Kim said he was "at his best"
on Saturday night at their home...he was funny...full of stories...he had a wonderful voice...and entertained them a bit. Little did he know that his time on earth had all but run out
and he was hours from meeting his maker.
We live in a very small town...everyone knows everyone else...
and on Sunday evening, a very popular teenager from the area
was running an errand. It was 5pm. She stopped at a stop
sign...and I guess she was in a hurry or whatever...but for some reason...she did not see the approaching truck...she pulled
out from the stop sign...the truck hit the drivers door...and
she was killed instantly. The scene of the accident is 4 miles straight up the road we live on. So when my husband and I ran
an errand on Monday, and we were approaching the "scene"...I
said..."Just think...when Blair passed this house last night...
she "thought" she was just approaching a stop sign....
she had NO IDEA she was 10 seconds from the "pearly gates"!
We really NEED to learn...or find a slow down! Yes...
making big money is "nice". Being a "big shot" and in all the
clubs and on all the committees might be "nice" for some people.
But what's really important is FAMILY, LOVE, HEALTH, PEACE OF
Below is an exerpt from last weeks newsletter, The Encourager!
Beginning today, I will no longer worry about yesterday.
It is in the past and the past will never change.
Only I can change by choosing to do so.

Beginning today, I will no longer worry about tomorrow.
Tomorrow will always be there, waiting for me
to make the most of it.
But I cannot make the most of tomorrow without first
making the most of today.

Beginning today, I will cherish each moment of my life.
I will value this gift bestowed upon me in this world,
I will unselfishly share this gift with others.
And I will use this gift to enhance the lives of others.

Beginning today, I will take a moment to step off the beaten path and to revel in the mysteries I encounter. I will take time to look and listen for there are wonders all around me.

Beginning today, I will take time to watch a sunrise or a sunset. I will listen to the birds sing, look for formations
in the clouds. I will take time to smile at passing strangers, and buy lemonade from the kids in their front yard.

Beginning today, I will reminisce, call an old friend, and take
a mini-vacation in a daydream.

Beginning today, I will start to really live.
For it is only in really living
That we can pass from this life in peace!
