I'm not so sure that self-gratification is a "black and white" sin. It isn't mentioned in the Bible. Christianity isn't about guilt, it's about freedom.

Hypothetically speaking of course, do you suppose it is better to have faith in Buddha? Allah? Yourself? The Sun? The planets? confucius?
