Lets ravel that thread a bit.
“that interfering or controlling one”

That may be the oldest question in the history of drinking. We ask that one and never seem to get a good answer.

Alcohol can’t do anything TO me, unless it does something FOR me first.

What I mean by that is in the majority of the population, after a few drinks, people just stop. Ask them why and you hear things like I have had all I want. Or I feel like I am getting a little tipsy, losing control. And they don’t like the sensation. And they just stop.

But not with people like me. After a few drinks, I feel like I am just starting to get control. After a few drinks this world gets ever so much more friendly and non threatening. It goes from a somewhat colorless place to Disney land in the space of half an hour.

But I don’t stop there, it’s like I need to maintain that state of euphoria. But it is always slipping away. So another shot or another glass of beer just to get me back to that sweet spot.

And after a few hours of that chasing my own tail, I am as drunk as Davies’s sow.

Is it interfering or is it controlling?

Take the test that was suggested to me. Get a big bottle of your favorite stuff, and a small glass. Fill that glass up and drink it. Maybe have two glasses. Then stop! Don’t drink another drop of alcohol for the rest of the day. Do that experiment again the next day, and the next, and the next until that bottle is empty. Is it any fun? Can you even do it?

It seemed that when I was controlling it, it wasn’t much fun, and when it was fun, I wasn’t controlling it at all.

Richard
