Hi Everyone,
Can anyone tell me where this story comes from? I want ot get hold of it to flesh out the details that I have forgotten, as I need it for a particular purpose.
A blind begger sits at the side of the road. It so happens that a deity [wise man?] passes by, and the blind beggar performs him some service. Please, the deity says to him:
"You have done me a service, and in return, I would be happy to grant you a single wish."
The poor, blind beggar thinks for a moment, and says "My gracious Lord, I have but a single wish. I merely wish that I may live to see my grandson sup honey from a golden plate."
The deity realises that in this one wish, the man is asking for longevity, wealth, issue and sight. He feels compassion for the man's plight, and amusement at his presumption, and grants him his multifaceted wish....
thanks in hope and anticipation,
Marc
