Hello everyone--I have read several different posts on here before joining, and feel like I can relate to a lot of the other stories you've all had to say. I have always had extra hair on my body, was always teased for having light hair on my upper lip and for having tons of hair on my arms. That was so embarrassing all my years of school. But to make things worse, when I turned around 14 or 15, I started sprouting chin hairs and cheek hairs too! I didn't notice right away until a group of boys in one of my classes started picking on me saying that I was growing a beard before them. That's when I noticed I had some huge hairs starting to grow! Before I knew it, my cheeks had all this long (but light) hair, and my chin had random hairs that were a little coarser. I have some asian (indian) in me, along with a bunch of european nationalities and portuguese, so I have an olive-dark skin complexion and my hair is black. Obviously it has not been fun to deal with! I was waxing myself by the time I was 15, because at that point my upper lip was worse and it seemed like I just had hair all over my face. Note: I was not taking any hormonal pills at all. I wasn't even sexually active.

When I was 19 I had my eyebrows waxed for the first time (professionally) as well as my arms. Those two things I never wanted to do myself, so I let a local beauty school do that for less. It was painful, but worth it. I decided I would wax my chin and lip myself, but go to professionals for my cheeks, eyebrows, and arms, or just all of my face when possible. Eventually the hair on my arms has lessened some, but not enough to where I can stop doing something about it. I now use Veet cream and it works really well with my coarse hair.

I did try ortho-tricyclen when I as 22, just to see if that would help with my hair woes, but it didn't. I even then tried vaniqua and that was crap. All it did was give me acne.

My hair has become more coarse as the years go by. I'm 27 now, and I've even had a baby. At one point I was told maybe my hormones would slow down once I had a child. But noooo that is totally the opposite for me! I used to be able to wax every month or so, but it is more like every 1-2 weeks now. Even if I try and let it grow out so that whatever I pluck in between times has a chance to grow out so I am doing all the hairs at once, I am still having stragglers poke out just days after waxing. It's maddening. My best waxing thing ever to use though has been Poetic Waxing kit. That stuff is awesome and works on every type of hair I have. It cost me $40 at Sephora, but I bought it last November and I still have that same wax.

My question now is, where do I go from here? I'm scared to try and spend more money on methods that might not work for me. I wouldn't mind waxing if it weren't for the growing out. Is there some makeup trick I can do between growths? Like something to hide the smaller hairs while I let it grow out to where I can wax? I would be happy if I could wax every 2 weeks at least!
