I received a summons today saying that a credit card company is suing me for money I owe them.

It says I should get a lawyer and respond, but I have no money. If I did, I would have paid them. If I don't respond it says there will be a default judgment entered. What is that?

I live in the state of Washington. Age 61, am single, working 30 hrs pre week as I have been very ill, lost my business and haven't been able to make as much money since. I don't want to file bankruptcy. I intend to pay them, but have no means at the moment. I am barely getting by on what I make. I rent, have an old car and have used up the few assets I did have to survive when I was ill, so have nothing left. What should I do? What can I do?
