It doesn't seem like you have read much about the process of drug development JV (the nickname of a British snooker player). Of course the profit motive has an influence on drug companies, but that influence is not all malign and the pharmaceutical is heavily regulated. There does need to be more investment in pharmacovigilance, and certainly in the UK the regulations for the CSM are being overhauled.
