Hello Agnes and Bob,
I have slowly been phasing into a vegetarian diet over the past couple of years, and have now even been cutting out dairy for several months. I have been feeling great physically, however the only negative change I have noticed is a change in the lining of my mouth. It sounds strange, but it is as if the cells of my inner cheeks seem to be shedding. It is especially noticable when I wake up in the morning; I can pull off the skin of my inner cheek in the form of white, almost plaque-like "strings", thicker than saliva but thinner than dental plaque. I have read that a vitamin B12 deficiency can cause a change in the surface and color of the tounge, but there was nothing mentioned about my problem. It started primarily when I started cutting out dairy. Is there a way I can remedy this problem without going back to meat and dairy?
Thanks! Julie K.
