I consider myself very knowledgeable to the subject and come from a place where I think by the time you have an infection of that magnitude, they are already scattered.

Time and treatment will allow them to be killed as the body cleans itself up by having proper nutrition. Epsom Salts bath soaks help but getting very helpful detoxing sulfur into your system and magnesium for calming effect.
