A group of combined analyzes of the second Neanderthal woman's genome and modern humans, new clues have emerged about how Neanderthals' DNA contributed to their genetic makeup and could still affect us today. For example, Neanderthal genes account for 1.8 to 2.6 percent of the total genetic makeup of people of Eurasian descent, according to a new study published in the journal Science. This is slightly higher than the previous estimate of 1.5 to 2.1 per cent.
