I am sharing my own experience, strength and hope on the subject of Morgellons; this post is not intended as medical advice.

The first symptom I noticed was excessive facial hair for many years, which I treated as a cosmetic problem, until it became unbearable. Then I treated it myself, by brute force, which was painful. I wore a bandaid on my face to hide the hideous cratering.

One day I put a generous amount of cleansing oil on my face, and all this black gunk came out. My therapist insisted I visit my doctor. (Are all doctors untrustworthy? Do I trust my doctor? Yes, I do, thank God.) My doctor said, “It is obviously not delusional; I can see it clearly on your face.” (Over half my face and down my neck.)

Due to the “black mold” appearance, and because my doctors thought that Morgellons was a severe manifestation of Lyme disease, I was tested for both Aspergillus and Lyme. Both came back negative. But being a practitioner of functional medicine (they started seeing this 10 years ago), I was told to use 1g daily of fenbendazole (Safeguard or Panacur brand), pulsed, 3 days on, 4 days off. Do not exceed this; I tried. Later we added 100mg of the Antibiotic Doxycline twice daily. At this point the itching and pain were gone.

Still, the parasites required removal. It appears to me the main infection spreads like a spider plant, strands wrapping in at the hair follicles. I use x9 magnification, and three tweezers — fine, slant and blunt. The fibers hold in other parasites, plus the odd green and red crystals, etc. My favorite product is Albolene, which I pile on and massage in. (Tea tree oil etc. are too irritating unless layered over. An antifungal cream is helpful, too.) I use the following techniques — a sweeping/dragging motion to remove “hair”; “Follow the lymph” (Eucerin will make this visible). Lymph is a great cleanser, and works from underneath. The other is massaging in generous amounts of Albolene, then “Follow the dots”. Little dots lead to big wads of fibers. The dots seem random but the body knows what it is doing. The Albolene also softens and makes the skin more comfortable. Do wait about 10 min or so after before going in public. The skin “swells” with work, so short repeated work session are best. The “dot” method also rebalances the skin so it doesn’t pull uncomfortably. This method is time-consuming, but it works (until Science catches up with a better way.) It’s been a year and a half; still working on my last section, but I pass for normal. The “networked” aspect of this disease means working on the main area picks up the outliers.

Hope this helps, and God bless.
