MAJOR CORRECTION! I should delete this whole thread and rewrite it into one post because I kept adding information as I found it. The site I used to find my MTHFR and COMT gene mutations doesn't break down the information like it used to. From memory, I remembered MTHFR and COMT mutations showing up. However, I have the COMT double allele mutations while a relative has the MTHFR double allele mutations. I only have one allele mutation instead of double allele mutations for the MTHFR mutation. If you have the MTHR double allele mutations, the Methylcobalamin I've been taking is recommended as well as B6 and other vitamins included in the B Complex package. But if you have the COMT mutations, Hydroxocobalamin and Adenosylcobalamin is recommended. I haven't taken this yet, and it's not the regular Cyanocobalamin B12. So, I'm going to try the Hydroxocobalamin and Adenosylcobalamin. I wanted to clarify that I don't have both MTHF and COMT double allele mutations. In my opinion, the COMT mutations might affect the lips more because the relative with the MTHFR doesn't have my lip peeling problem.
Since the MTHFR gene has enzyme that makes vitamin B-12 (methylcobalamin) active, maybe it was helpful to the one allele mutation of MTHFR so I could absorb some of it. Or maybe Methylcobalamin is more resistant to stomach acid than the regular Cyanocobalamin (considering my other DNA gene mutation of Tcn1= destruction of B12 by my stomach acid). I'll try the Hydroxocobalamin and Adenosylcobalamin to see if it makes my body feel more relaxed.
