Well this is interesting. Even Michael Brown said that Benny Hinn renounced the false prosperity gospel back in 1993 but he did not stick to it because of pressure from his friends. I know this is true because I sat in the service and personally heard Benny renounce it. It did not last long at all. His so-called friends must have really ganged up on him. That's not saying much for his friends, or him. This is so sad. Many famous leaders are not really dedicated to the Lord. They are in it for themselves. The same can be said for some who are not so famous too, unfortunately.

What is really chilling is that even though they know they are lying about prosperity some of them still operate in the real gifts of the Spirit. For some reason God does not take away the gifts even when the leaders fall into lies and sin. That is good to remember. Just because leaders have been caught sinning does not mean their gifts are not from God. They may still be able to pray for the sick and see God heal. They may still be able to get accurate words of knowledge and prophecies from the Lord. This can cause confusion because people don't see how God would still use them in the gifts when they are knowingly preaching false doctrine. Of course, some are operating from the dark side in these churches too. Of course, we have all heard of those who have been caught faking the gifts.

We really need to seek God for discernment. We need to understand that having gifts from God does not prove we are close to God, or even saved for that matter. The Bible does say that there will be many on that day who did miracles in the name of Jesus and Jesus will say to them, "Depart from me you WORKERS OF INIQUITY." So yes, all this is biblical. It's just hard to understand with our human minds. God's ways are not man's ways. Not understanding these things leads to false teaching about the gifts too, which is also sad and another story.
