found it. question and answer links below.
im still not sure of the source of that. i looked again and like you cannot independently confirm it. my answer to the question about having no thyroid was just a quick dump of what i knew about it to encourage the person to take Iodine because it helps everything, not just the manic medical focus of thyroid hormones.
again, seems to me it was said as an aside by one of the Iodine docs in a lecture or such. the statement was NOT made to suggest that the ovaries could take over for the thyroid. i know of no mechanism for that to happen. interestingly, i have heard from people who say their thyroids were removed but a little piece was missed and it started making hormones, so there is that possibility, too. i hope that helps.

Could anyone tell me if you have had a thyroid removed, will Iodine supplements help and if so how? Thank you in advance

every cell in your body needs iodine, not just the thyroid. the thyroid is where the highest concentration of Iodine can be found in the body. you need it for normal cell death and every hormone receptor and to help regulate all kinds of things like fat and iron.
everyone should supplement Iodine and everyone will benefit.
and, if you have your ovaries still, they can make thyroid hormone, too. the ovaries are the second greatest concentration of Iodine in the body after the thyroid. iodine melts cysts in ovaries and breasts.
that should jump-start any further research you require.
