Well, one of my worst nightmares came true. Now that the volume of dead intestinal whole flukes and digested pieces-parts in my stool has vastly diminshed.... I spotted, and retrieved and preserved in a jar of alcohol...... a schistome. Goddammit! Everybody said when you acquire one of these infections, it's never a single worm. They're right. And all the official publications that swear the *ONLY* way that schistosomiasis is acquired is from swimming or sustained contact with fresh water in a place where schistosomes are endemic, which the US is nit one of,..... Is UTTER BULLSHITE. Ive' never been out of the country. I don't swim, I can't. It's been decades since I've even set foot in a public pool and it was loaded with eye burning amounts of chlorine. Schistosomes are transmissible in contaminated food. I'm living proof. At least I'm still living as I post this message. I have one in a jar, or at least half of one.... more specifically I have the anterior half of a mated pair, the suckers in the heads of the larger male, and the slimmer diameter female sticking out of the groove, are distinct and unmistakable with a magnifying glass and a bright LED flashlight. I cannot tell exactly which species it is by trying to match it against pics of the known species on the internet. It could even be a hybrid, or some new novel species that has mutated into a symbiotic relationship with fasciolopids and hasn't been written about yet. I'm really freaking out now. Here comes more praziquantel and I sure hope it kills them all dead.
