Too general - and there are NO ABSOLUTES [except than that.

For example, "stool softener" [docusate] is not a stimulant or an irritant type of laxative. It is an oil that softens stool.

It does say "don't take it every day" but it will not likely reduce peristalsis.

I am surprised that there are many people who use laxatives but they do not know about Docusate.
