Symptoms of anxiety can be psychological and physical and it can vary from person to person. Each person's body gives a specific response to anxiety. Usually, when someone feels anxious, the body goes on high alert and the person finds the probable dangers.
Common symptoms of anxiety are:
Feeling panic and danger: It is the most occurring symptoms in the patient of anxiety. The panic attack is the intense fear recognized by its suddenness and devastating, immobilizing intensity. It can occur at any time whether the person is asleep or relaxed. Commonly, the panic feeling makes a person feels endangered and incapable of escaping and activating the fight-or-flight reaction of the body.
Insomnia: Anxiety may lead to insomnia, unhealthy sleep habits, due to tension, unnecessary worrying about upcoming situations, overburdening the responsibilities and thoughts about earlier events. It can be associated with maintenance insomnia (waking up in between night and not get sleep again) or onset insomnia (a problem in falling asleep).
High heart rate: Anxiety is the direct response to the body to harmful situations and stressful feelings, which elevate the heartbeat similar to the symptoms of atrial fibrillation (cardiovascular disease). Initially, the signs observed during the anxiety include heart racing or palpitation.
Rapid breathing: The powerful explode of anxiety can lead to sudden rapid breathing and possible hyperventilation which is accompanied by giddiness, chest pain, disorientation and a high heart rate.
Thinking or focusing problem: The person usually experiences thinking and focusing problem during anxiety. The difficulties include poor concentration, trouble conceiving, and difficulty forming thoughts, unfocused and not remembering.
Gastrointestinal problems: Person with anxiety experiences many digestive issues such as gas, diarrhoea and constipation. The digestive tract is very sensitive to minor changes in the body like stress. Consistent sleep problems like insomnia from anxiety can create physical stresses that eventually contribute to raising digestive issues.
Other than the above symptoms, anxiety leads to the sensation of choking, sweating, feeling hot or cold, fear of dying, etc.
