Ed: Do you mean the same exact vague relative moralism as taught directly by Jesus?

Me: No, I see Jesus being very specific in the sermon on the Mount about what loving God and others means as well as many other places in the bible.

Ed: My point is that you nor i are judging and condemning people as not being true Christians and telling them they are going to hell hell based upon them not agreeing with our doctrinal beliefs the way Rainy is doing.

Me: Well Ed, I hate to be disappointing, but I agree with Rainy that anyone who doesn't believe Jesus is God is in danger of hell. A human savior is no savior at all.

Are you able to see the difference between position 1 and position 2 or to you are they exactly the same?"

Me: Like you said in position 1, it's natural for people to believe their opinions are right, which would then naturally lead them to believe other opinions contrary to their own are wrong (which you call "pompous" in position 2). But how are you not "pompous" then when your opinion is that Rainy and I are "definitely wrong" in saying that you must believe Jesus is God to be saved? You expressed concern in another post that those who are "stiff-necked" and have a "religious spirit" might be in danger of hell. Those you put in that category are those who just don't agree with some of your opinions, so how is that not the same "pompousness" you are accusing others of having?
