Vekky: "I would not want to read or promote books written by those in the immature Corinthian church either."

The Bible is clear that the gifts that the Corinthians operated in were real gifts from God. Therefore I would not reject a book written by them if the book told the truth about what God gave them. That would be like rejecting God just because He used imperfect baby Christians. Some Christians think they are better Christians for rejecting these things, but I feel that God would not give gifts if He did not have a good reason to do so. Yes, there are plenty of those faking it. Yes, the demonic comes in so we must examine and use discernment, but some reject it all. They even reject what is truly from God. I'm pretty sure this is displeasing to God. How would you feel if you gave your child a gift and she rejected it.

Also, yes, I know that the fruits of the spirit are more important than the gifts. We don't need to start that one again. We all agree there.

God has used His gifts to help many. Some have come to truth by them. Some who were so discouraged that they were ready to throw in the towel, as far as their own life and their own walk with Christ is concerned, have received the encouragement that they needed to keep going. Etc., etc, there are stories to tell how the gifts have helped them greatly. I personally prefer to hear from God for myself rather than through another person, but I do see the value of the gifts. Everything from God has value.

On the other hand, I doubt I would want to read a book by an immature Christian with information that just came from their own imagination, but if they were revealing what God really gave them, that is a different situation.
