My dentist suggested that I need to wear a night guard, as I am a heavy grinder. The length of my teeth has quite reduced due to grinding over the last 15-17 years, and I am currently 41 years old. My dentist has problems in doing dental filling for me due to reduced length of my teeth. The cost of my dentist's night guard is a bit high. I was looking online, and the cost varies from $25 to $250, so couldn't understand the reason for such variation.


Could someone please guide me about:
(1) How to choose a night guard and is there a need for the type of night guard to be customized with the type of grinding a person does?
(2) Which material it should be made of?
(3) Please also suggest some brands that I could look at? While cost is a consideration, I would like to balance the cost aspect with the suitability of my dental situation. I am based in Toronto (Canada).
