I think you are not crazy for suggesting this. I think retaining moisture is something our lips don't naturally do anymore. I have found that a lot of kissing this year hasn't worsened my condition. On the contrary, I think I have gotten close to being healed through this next level of "constant moisture." I think licking alone will dry out the lips due to the process of evaporation, and you still need a constancy of some moisture. The trick is finding something non-aggravating to seal the moisture in, and for me, manuka honey has been great!
