This in reply to Rosie's post. Rosie - I have had the same or something similar since 2012. Several times I thought I was cured, but they came back. I also sent numerous samples to Cornell Labs and got the same response as you. I thought I had bird mites until I got a microscope. When I looked at the microscope slides, I was shocked to find numerous microscopic worms and a lot of toxicara eggs. I too learned very fast not to wash my hair in the shower. I also wash mine in the sink and dry with a separate towel. I have tried so many things to kill these ones in my scalp and hair. About a year ago, I found out my immune system was not strong and I had a B-12 deficiency and anemia. I had lost all my hair three separate times. That weak immune system was what allowed the worms to multiply so much and the fact that I was treating for mites. I started on one of ICU's protocol - that helped a lot, then Mattk3's protocol for flukes, tapes and Ascaris (both of these protocols and many others are on the forums). It was unreal to find out I had multiple types of worms.
Do you have white feather type things fall from your head on to your shirts or the surrounding area? I realized that I had some type of strongyloid too.
When I started on Mattk3's protocol for flukes, tapes and Ascaris, the medicines really helped with the crawling and itching. In the second 60 days, Mattk3 has you take low doses of DEC, Piperazine, Albendazole and later in the day to take Prazi. I found the DEC and Piperazine really helped with the scalp crawling.
While you have the scalp issue until you are cured, you might want to sleep in a cap that covers the hair. I found that I would get the eggs and worms on the pillow when I slept and if you are a side sleeper you can reinfect your face and eyes. I also wear nitrate or plastic disposable gloves whenever I wash or blow dry my hair.
Just to clarify, I'm not saying you have multiple worms. I'm just suggesting to try and get a look see under a microscope if you haven't already. That might help you with what parasite to target and save you valuable time in getting better.
