I saw a fantastic OBGYN. He practices NaPro, which means he looks to find the root cause and treat it instead of just masking symptoms!
I have seen him, a dietician, and a Creighton charting instructor. So far, I have some leads that I am low in progesterone in the second half of my cycle. I bought a cream from GNC and it seems to help. I go for a blood draw for hormones in a month or two, once I can charting reliably.
What causes low progesterone? Blood Sugar swings, perhaps. I am aiming to keep carbs low (as in 15g per serving and 8g or less added sugar). Turns out food I thought was protein (beans, milk, yogurt) falls in the carb realm. Which I suppose is why gluten free and FODMAP helped: they inherently removed some of the carb loading from my diet.
Perhaps a micronutrient deficiency. I am waiting on a blood culture. Magnesium, vitamin c and others are important for progesterone. Magnesium deficiency is apparently common.
Fatigue, insomnia, light anxiety, bloating are daily life but balancing my macros and fasting two days a week seems to be keeping me in the land of the living. That, and much time in prayer. It reduces my stress, and stress can affect the hormones.
