You misunderstand what I'm saying. Chelation should not be very uncomfortable! Many people can work and live their life responsibly while chelating.
I was more sensitive to kicking up heavy metals so it was difficult for me to work effectively in my technology related job while on round, even while only taking roughly 15mg DMSA plus 10mg ALA.
I got most of my health gains from detox on those low doses! That includes 8% improvement in my bone density, normalization of my kidney numbers (eGFR), greatly reduced food sensitivities , elimination of eye floaters, improvements in comfort in social situations, and various other minor issues. The bone density issue was my primary concern and it normalized.
My point is that you should not be punishing yourself with symptoms from taking too much ALA for your situation and the very skimpy doses of antioxidant protection --vitamin C & E!
Taking DMSA or especially DMPS along with ALA typically reduces side effects of ALA. You might only need 10mg doses. More on that if requested.
Have you tried taking the vitamin E with each meal?
Do you have trouble tolerating other lipid soluble vitamins: A, D, K, also fish oil and fatty foods?
I think you are very foolish to take so little antioxidant protection.
