I know fasts are very helpful after a surgery. Your body will eat all the scar tissues and clear up other imbalances.

However, I have not heard of healing of hernia with a fast. I know a fastvwill not hurt but heal, your logic of losing fat and shrinking stomach does make sense. I say, go for it.
