Hi, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto 2 years after getting Mirena. I decided to remove it as I read about the relationship between foreign objects in the body and autoimmune diseases. I asked my endo to measure my antibody levels in addition to my TSH each time I went for a follow up (Note: Synthroid does not effect antibody levels and antibody levels measure the degree of your thyroid attacking itself). Since removing my IUD my antibody levels continue to drop around 100 (points?) each time I go. I am convinced it was Mirena as I have done no other lifestyle changes.
