What bothers me in your being over critical - I think - against cataract surgery sometimes, is the risk to turn away from it, people that would get valuable benefit from it otherwise...It's not an easy decision to make to undergo eye surgery on one hand, and on the other one, some of the doctors that do it at least, seem to be good persons with a valuable practise and genuine precious skills...

I didn't know that biochemists did not have approval to run clinical trials however, and tended to think that surgery had taken over other approaches because of a superior efficacy mostly...It is an important point then, and it does make a difference...
Sfill Dr. Françoise Carré is an ophthalmologist and homeopathic doctor in Paris that gives treatments against cataracts if required (but at quite early stages I believe)...So I bet there must have been some kind of researches done so that a treatment can be prescribed...(Dr. Jo whose blog's link I gave somewhere else, also advices some treatment at early stages, and homeopathy is a recognised medical speciality in France).
Dr. Edward Kondrott in the U.S. is an ophthalmologist who has been a surgeon, but now says he can reverse cataracts with his methods (I'm not so sure about him). You probably know him...

Dr. Bates in his book (Better Eyesight Without Glasses) tells about an old man that came at his office and who asked, after Dr Bates had taught him how to do palming, "Can I do too much of that ?"
-"No palming is about relaxing, and you can't relax too much" was the answer... He came back some time after, and when he had his eyes examined, there was no more cloudiness in the center of the lenses...When asked how he had done that, (since he had severe cataracts before), he said he had "palmed" for 24hours, only stopping to drink water...(no relapse 2 years later...) !!
Dr. Bates didn't do a specific study about cataracts I think, but other examples can be found on articles he wrote in a medical journal...

These are a few examples at leas, of some ophthalmologists or medical doctors who have been doing something on the matter : I wish there were some more, and most of all, that I had been warned in time of what cataracts were, and of how something could be done too ! No help was found at the time.

How long do we have to wait (is the combination of Alpha-Lipoic Acid and Lanosterol working for you...) ?
