My observation (I am 63 years old) is that TRUE aetheists (unsure of commonly accepted spelling and origin of the word) are not only very smart and ALSO PRINCIPLED, but they are "KEEPING IT REAL".
I say "TRUE" atheists because many are simply LABELLING themselves "atheist" because they only want to avoid the whole 'religiosity' thing (scared COP OUT).
"Aetheism" is sometimes said to have originated in the USA in the LAST FEW CENTURIES (I DON'T BELIEVE THAT).
Socrates taught the youth of ATHENS about good, honest, clean/true and peaceful living (the state put him to death for that).
Anyway, in Acts 17, the apostle Paul spoke to the men of Athens in a short speech at their "Aeropagus" (their version of a town hall auditorium). Paul found no reason to even MENTION the name of Jesus or any details in scripture because the townspeople were raised on SOCRATIC TEACHINGS (MY observation).
The Athenians were already very righteous and peaceful (Socrates taught them well). Is this where the name "atheist" comes from?).
Do you have the ability to ‘believe’ something (anything at all)?
Many people simply don’t possess that ability (they NEED ‘SURE information’ in order to feel safe).
