Although John Wycliffe is often credited with the first translation of the Bible into English, there were, in fact, many translations of large parts of the Bible centuries before Wycliffe's work. The English Bible was first translated from the Latin Vulgate into Old English by a few select monks and scholars.
The reason as you all know why we had English translation was so that preachers could dominate their congregation. Now the congregation have to put up with the preachers interpretation, so people must make up their own mind and I believe it comes from the heart with a bit of common sense thrown in, unfortunately many strive for the absolute truth.
Well I think it will never be known because it has been lost through time like most things plus changed to differentiate peoples religious denominations •Catholic Church - 1.285 billion.
•Protestantism - 920 million.
•Eastern Orthodox Church - 270 million.
•Oriental Orthodoxy – 86 million.
•Restorationism and Nontrinitarianism - 35 million.
•Independent Catholicism - 18 million.
•Minor branches - 1 million.
As I have always pointed out dogma is thrown in the mix to try make themselves more meaningful.
As times goes by the bible numbers grow and in the future one will be so confused about the WORD.
Perhaps some will become collectors items in time and it appears that T&Ns has a head start.
My good God.
