when one wants to build an argument it is best to build that argument using your most unimpeachable proofs FIRST so that in the end the conclusion has at least the patina of credibility. not so with this guy and his cutsey construct(poor dickens).

" Israel endured over four hundred years of slavery and bitterness in Egypt,"

where is that in the bible? well, again (and again and again and again.....), it isnt, though christians choose to believe whatever sounds good to them regardless.

but heck, you cant tell them that. how i escaped from that kind of thinking and still kept the faith is a miracle of god all by itself.

lets see what the bible actually says.

Exodus 1 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

1 Now these are the names of the children of Israel, which came into Egypt; every man and his household came with Jacob. 2 Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah, 3 Issachar, Zebulun, and Benjamin, 4 Dan, and Naphtali, Gad, and Asher. 5 And all the souls that came out of the loins of Jacob were seventy souls: for Joseph was in Egypt already. 6 And Joseph died, and all his brethren, and all that generation.

7 And the children of Israel were fruitful, and increased abundantly, and multiplied, and waxed exceeding mighty; and the land was filled with them. 8 Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph. 9 And he said unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we: 10 come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land. 11 Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens. well, there you are. that makes one of his opening statements a bold-faced lie (what a surprise!). the progression described here would take hundreds of years all by themselves - the dying off of the originals, then the incredible increase in their numbers, then a pharoah who blew all that past stuff off came along, then they began to work them hard building stuff. then the intensity of the "slavery" of these people increased over time. then came the bitter servitude and then the pogrom to kill the male children. i wouldnt call those good times in the first half of their stay when they flourished "slavery and bitterness."

so screw this guy right off the bat. a half truth is a whole lie.
